Day 1: The Adventure Begins

Our adventure commences in the historic city of Cusco. We set out from this picturesque Peruvian city, heading towards the starting point of our trek. On our way, we pass through charming towns like Chincheros, Urubamba, and Ollantaytambo, ultimately arriving at Km. 82 of the Cusco – Machu Picchu railway; it is at this point that marks the beginning of our expedition.

Here, we pause to savor a delicious lunch before embarking on a guided visit to the Archaeological Group of Llactapata. This visit allows us to connect with the ancient heritage and history of the region. With our spirits high and a sense of adventure in the air, we set off on the first leg of our trek, culminating at our first campsite in Huayllabamba.

Day 2: Conquering Warmiwañusca

After a hearty breakfast, we brace ourselves for the most physically demanding section of the Inca Trail. A steep ascent leads us to the pinnacle of Warmiwañusca, perched at a breathtaking altitude of 4,200 meters above sea level. The view from this vantage point is nothing short of spectacular, offering a panoramic outlook over the Machu Picchu National Park.

After experiencing and savoring the view over Machu Picchu, we descend to Pacaymayo, where our camp is for the night. Here, we are able to rejuvenate and enjoy the unique experience of being immersed in this magnificent natural environment.

Day 3: Discovering Ancient Secrets

Day three provides us with additional insights into Inca history and culture. We begin with a delicious breakfast before beginning our ascent to the trail’s second-highest pass, located at 3,800 meters above sea level. We explore the archaeological zone of Runkuraqay along the way, connecting with the ancient world.

As we make our way to Sayacmarca for lunch, we notice the landscape changing from arid to lush and tropical. We pass through Puyupatamarca, another important archaeological site in the region, on our way to our final campsite in Wiayhuayna.

Dinner is arranged and served once everyone has arrived at the campsite. After preparing and enjoying a much-needed meal, it’s time to relax and enjoy the trail camaraderie. Tomorrow, we embark on our final day toward Machu Picchu

Day 4: The Arrival at Machu Picchu

On the final day, we set out early with breakfast in anticipation of our visit to the awe-inspiring Machu Picchu. A one-hour walk takes us to Inti Punku, also known as the gateway to this legendary citadel. Here is where we will get to stand in awe as we take in an extraordinary 360 view.

The guided tour of Machu Picchu begins as we enter the site, revealing the secrets of this remarkable archaeological site. This is the part of the trek that we have all been waiting for. Here, we will see top attractions such as the main square, the circular tower, the sundial, the royal quarters, the temple of the Three Windows, and the cemeteries, among other things.

While the trail experience is a journey in itself, our adventure doesn’t end here. To conclude this unforgettable exploration, we’ll board a train from Ollantaytambo, making our way back to Cusco, marking the end of our incredible journey along the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.
