The full itinerary

Day 1:
At 8:00 am, we set out from Cusco, traveling northward for about four hours until we reach our starting point in the quaint community of Capulyoc. There, we will enjoy a lunch at Gladys’swelcoming home and take some time to recharge before embarking on the initial leg of our trek. At 3:00 pm, we will begin our hike towards the community of Chiquisca. After roughly three hours, we will arrive at Melchora’s residence, where a delicious dinner awaits, and comfortable guest rooms provide a restful night’s sleep.

Day 2:
After a breakfast at Melchora’s house, we will kickstart our second day of trekking at 7:00 am, making our way towards Marampata. The trail leads us through a complete descent to the Rosalina bridge (just a few hours from our starting point), followed by an uphill stretch. After three to four hours of ascent, we will reach the welcoming community of Santa Rosa, where we will savor a lunch hosted by Flor. Following a satisfying meal and a well-deserved rest, we will resume our hike to reach Marampata, aiming for an arrival around 6:00 pm. Here, we will enjoy a dinner and spend the night in Maribel’s home.

Day 3:
Today, we embark on an exploration of the Choquequirao site. In the early morning, we will set out for the archaeological
center, located roughly two hours from Marampata. Once there, we will delve into the key highlights of Choquequirao, savoring a picnic amid its ancient beauty. Later, we will make our way to the Choquequirao pass, situated at 3400m, followed by a descent to the Punchaynuyoc ruins, where we will establish our camp for the night.

Day 4:
Starting from the Punchaynuyoc archaeological center, we will continue our descent towards the White River. After crossing the river, we will pick up the trail on the opposite bank and ascend to the welcoming community of Maizal. Here, we will establish our base camp, enjoying a satisfying dinner and settling in for the night.

Day 5:
Following breakfast, we will continue onwards with our trek towards Machu Picchu. Our path leads us to the Yanama pass, perched at 4200m, before descending to the welcoming community of Yanama, where we will enjoy a lunch. From Yanama, a transport vehicle will be ready to take us to Santa Teresa, where we will settle in for the night.

Day 6:
At the crack of dawn, we will venture to the archaeological site of Yactapata, renowned for its exceptional view of Machu Picchu. Here, we will enjoy a boxed lunch before proceeding to Hydroelectric. From there, we will trek along the train tracks, ultimately arriving at the Machu Picchu pueblo, Aguas Calientes. Our evening will be spent at Casa Andina, where we will rest and prepare for the finale leg of our journey.

Day 7:
Today marks our arrival at Machu Picchu. We will leave our hotel bright and early to reach the entrance of the archaeological center by 6:00 am, where a guided tour awaits. This exploration will last about three hours, after which we will return to Aguas Calientes for a well-deserved lunch. Post-meal, we will board the train to Ollantaytambo, followed by a bus journey to Cusco. Anticipate our arrival in Cusco around 19:00, culminating our unforgettable journey from Choquequirao to Machu Picchu.
