The full itinerary
Day 1:
We will reach your accommodation by 7:00 a.m. and set off for Huacawasi to establish our base camp. Upon arrival, we will embark on a roughly two-hour hike to the picturesque Huacawasi lagoon. Afterward, we will head back to Mariano’s residence for a delightful dinner, concluding the day with a peaceful night’s rest.
Day 2:
Following a satisfying breakfast, we will kickstart our trek towards the welcoming community of Patacancha. The pinnacle of our journey will lead us to the breathtaking Patacancha pass, situated at an elevation of 4200 meters. Lunch will be enjoyed by the tranquil Patacancha lagoon before descending to the village. As the day draws to a close, we will arrive at Juan’s residence, where his family will treat us to a traditional Pachamanca dinner. Nestled in the family’s inviting guest cabin, we will retire for the night, recharging for the adventures that lie ahead.
Day 3:
After a nice breakfast with Juan and his family, we will journey towards to Ollantaytambo, with a stop at the Puma Marca ruins — an ancient network of terraces that once sustained the entire Inca empire. Arriving in Ollantaytambo, we are in for a delightful surprise at lunch! Later, we will make our way to the train station, bound for the Machu Picchu village, where we will spend the night.
Day 4:
At the crack of dawn, we will commence our ascent to the ruins of Machu Picchu. Our entry is slated for 6:00 am, allowing us to witness the breathtaking sunrise over the Inca citadel. Following a guided tour, we will return to the village and catch the train to Ollantaytambo. From there, our journey will culminate with a return to Cusco, marking the conclusion of our unforgettable Lares to Machu Picchu expedition.
