The full itinerary

Day 1:

We will set out from Cusco bright and early at 6:00 am, making our way to Calca for a breakfast. From there, we will journey to Huaran, where our trek to the community of Cancha Cancha begins. The  trail  will  lead  us  uphill  for  approximately  seven  hours  until  we  reach  the  welcoming community. Here, we will share a delightful dinner and spend the night with a local family, all while taking in the breathtaking backdrop of Pitusiray and Sawasiray.

Day 2:

Early in the morning, we will bid farewell to Cancha Cancha and set our sights on Pitusiray and Sawasiray peaks. En route, we will delve into the rich Inca history of the area. Upon reaching the trek’s highest point, we will encounter remarkable monoliths, with the towering mountains as a majestic backdrop. Our journey continues to the quaint community of Huaychuyu, where we will be warmly hosted by Benita and her son Jeremías. Here, we will spend another night, enjoying the view of the mountains.

Day 3:

Come morning, we will begin a leisurely descent to Mama Cocha, a journey of approximately 2 hours. From there, we will be met with transportation to take us to the soothing hot springs of Lares, where you can indulge in a rejuvenating soak in the thermal baths. Afterward, we will make our way to Ollantaytambo to catch the train to Machu Picchu village, ensuring you arrive refreshed and ready for the next leg of our adventure.

Day 4:

The highly anticipated day at Machu Picchu is finally here! In the early morning, we will delve into the beauty of this ancient citadel, dedicating the day to its exploration alongside our knowledgeable guide. With minimal walking involved, you will have ample time to absorb the site’s wonders. As the day draws to a close, we will board the train to Ollantaytambo, followed by our journey back to Cusco. This marks the conclusion of our Pitusiray trek to Machu Picchu.
